NAEST – Navigational Aids and Equipment Simulator Training (Management level)

Overview:

The NAEST (Management Level) Course – Navigational Aids and Equipment Simulator Training – is designed for senior officers and masters who are responsible for navigation and bridge management on large vessels, including superyachts. This advanced-level course focuses on enhancing navigational skills, voyage planning, and bridge resource management using state-of-the-art simulators. It prepares participants for the strategic decision-making and leadership responsibilities required at the management level, ensuring safe and efficient vessel operations. The course is aligned with the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) requirements for navigational officers. 

By the end of the course, students will: 

 

Prerequisites:  

At least 12 months  watchkeeping service whilst holding a Certificate of Competency issued under Regulation II/1 of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended. 

* Candidates for Chief Mate less than 3000gt will be accepted with a minimum of six months watchkeeping service. 

Candidates need to provide documentary evidence of successful completion of: 

  1. MCA approved Navigation Aids and Equipment Simulator Training (NAEST) (Operational level) course completed on or after 1 January 2005, or
  2. MCA approved ECDIS course completed on or after 1 January 2005 

If no valid ECDIS certificate is held, then you will need to complete a full MCA approved ECDIS course before participating in the NAEST (M) course. 

Duration:  

The NAEST (Management Level) Course typically lasts 10 to 15 days, depending on the training provider. It includes a combination of theoretical instruction, practical simulator exercises, and assessments to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
