VIRSEC has updated this essential training to comply with the IMO Model Course 1.41 guidelines, ensuring that all personnel involved in emergency situations on vessels are adequately prepared. This course meets and exceeds the standards set by STCW and adheres to the MNTB’s Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency (KUP) criteria.
Course Content Includes:

Situation Assessment: Learn to evaluate emergencies and respond effectively.

Performance Under Stress: Understand how stress impacts decision-making and action.

Behavioural Recognition: Recognize and predict behaviour patterns in emergencies.
Course Objectives:

Emergency Control: Manage and control crowds during shipboard emergencies.

Safety Equipment: Locate and demonstrate the use of safety and emergency equipment.

Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with passengers in emergencies.

Life-Saving Appliances: Show proficiency in using personal life-saving equipment.

Procedural Compliance: Follow and enforce the vessel’s safety and emergency protocols.
Target Participants: Designed for Masters, chief mates, engineers, and any crew member responsible for passenger safety, cargo operations, or emergency responses on passenger ships, including ro-ro, cruise ships, and luxury yachts.
Course Structure:

Duration: Approximately 6 hours, flexible access with a continuous final assessment.

Format: Theory-based online learning. Note: Practical drills must be completed onboard under supervision.
USCG Assessment Requirement: Participants must complete a Course Assessment under remote invigilation provided by VIRSEC, available free of charge on weekdays.
This course ensures that all maritime personnel are equipped with the necessary skills to handle emergency situations confidently and efficiently, enhancing overall safety at sea.
